Prescribing
AvailablePrescriptions that hold up to the rules
A prescribing module built on the national drug data, with the legal particulars checked as you write. It knows PBS quantities and repeats, authority levels, active-ingredient prescribing and Schedule 8 — and it warns rather than silently deciding anything a prescriber should judge.
What you get
Prescribers · Clinicians · Practice managers
- The national data, kept current
- The PBS schedule — items, packs, maximum quantities and repeats, authority levels and streamlined codes — imported monthly, with Australian Medicines Terminology codes on every item that maps.
- The particulars, checked
- Date, patient, prescriber and the rest of the legal form of a prescription are validated as you write, with forward dating refused and back dating flagged.
- Active ingredient prescribing
- Prescribing by active ingredient as the Commonwealth requires, including the excluded items and the medicines listed for brand consideration.
- Schedule 8 and authorities
- Controlled drugs and streamlined authorities handled to the published requirements, with the form splitting where the rules require it.
- Interaction checking
- Drug interactions and therapeutic duplication through MIMS, on the practice's own subscription.
- Warnings, not silent decisions
- Rules differ between states. MedOS enforces the common floor and surfaces state-specific data as warnings, leaving clinical judgement to the prescriber.
